| WHO ARE YOU |

01.) What are your goals in life? I am deplorably lacking in real "goals." I generally aim for happiness, when it comes down to the line. There are things I'd like to do, of course: buy a house, volunteer with Children's Lighthouse of MN, learn French and Latin and Gaelic and Greek and, and, and-. I'd like to visit Europe, write a book, sing on stage and not suck...or throw up. But by and large, what I want most is to simply be happy.

02.) What do you care about most? I care about so many things, but everything boils down to people. I care about my family, both the one I was born to and the one I've made for myself, but also about the people I don't know, which comprises so many more.

03.) What is one thing you would change about the world today? Do you mean if I had the ability to snap my fingers and POOF, all better? There are so many things to choose from, it's difficult to pin down one thing over another. But in the case of snapping my fingers, I'd start with fixing the environment - clean water, clean air, etc. It's important.

04.) Is there anything in your life that you regret? No. I cannot go back and change what happened, so I do my best to behave admirably, and to learn from it when I fail.

05.) Describe your top positive characteristics. I would say my best qualities are that I am hopeful, loving, and open-minded. I am always willing to hear other ideas, other thoughts and beliefs and concerns. I can usually understand the reasons behind them and the processes, whether or not I agree with them or think they are valid. I am prone to falling in love; this does not mean I am unfaithful or easy, nor am I talking about romantic or erotic love. It is simply that I love easily, and once I love, I love for life. A piece of music, a book, a quote, a friend, a child, a concept. And yes, of course, my family. And I am full of hope. For life, for love, for friends, for family, for people, for the world. This is not to be confused with optimism; William Sloane Coffin said it best: Hope is a state of mind independent of the state of the world. If your heart's full of hope, you can be persistent when you can't be optimistic. You can keep the faith despite the evidence, knowing that only in so doing has the evidence any chance of changing. So while I'm not always optimistic, I'm always very hopeful.

06.) Describe your top negative characteristics. My worst qualities, in my eyes, are that I am usually impatient, often judgmental and sometimes snobby. I have very little patience when someone doesn't "get it," especially when I feel I am going out of my way to make it understandable; I find that I have to keep my mouth shut and step away to think about it, especially when a response is required of me. I tend to trust my own judgment above someone else's, and it's a struggle to accept that someone else's way is just as good as, if not better than, mine. And I can be a snob, which goes hand-in-hand with being judgmental; it's a daily battle not to roll my eyes when I think that my way or my thoughts are better than someone else's. I dislike being wrong as a whole, and the 'judgmental' and 'snobby' are results of my attempts to avoid being wrong. They are flaws; I am working on them.

07.) Pick a favorite quote and explain what it means to you. We're all human, aren't we? Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving." - Kingsley Shacklebolt, Potterwatch, Deathly Hallows.

All life is precious and fragile, and no one human should be holding their own worth above another's, their own rights above those of someone else, their own beliefs as gospel. And those who have the ability, whether through money or might or positions of leadership, should endeavor to protect those less fortunate than themselves, regardless of race, religion, economic or social status, or level of education; in the exercise of authority, we should be governed by justice and unselfish loyalty to the welfare of others. I'm not perfect, by any means, but when it comes to striving for excellence, this is where I set my sights.

08.) Who is your favorite Harry Potter character? I love so many of them, but it always comes back to Harry for me. There is so much love in him, and to see him go from an abused child to a hero without even considering "the dark side," as it were - and too, without expecting fame or fortune or payment, is something beautiful to behold. He is not only struggling with the weight of growing up, but also with this huge, astonishing responsibility on his shoulders, and while he struggles - mightily - with depression and anger and loss, there is still that firm belief that what is going on is wrong, and there is still that core of love within him.

09.) Least favorite? How can it not be Delores Umbridge? My God, the woman is sheer, unadulterated evil. Of course Voldemort was, too, but he was up front and in your face about it. If you pissed him off, he'd kill you where you stood and not pussy-foot about with petty nastiness. Sure, Bellatrix enjoyed torturing, playing with her food before eating it, but even she could - and did - kill with a simple shot. Umbridge? Ohh, no. She wanted you to suffer, forever if she could possibly manage it, and she wanted your suffering to be the means of her own advancement.

10.) Who would you have been friends with at Hogwarts? Neville, easily. Fred and George, Luna, Susan Bones, Katie Bell. My friends tend to be few, but tight. I am extremely easy to get along with so I have many good acquaintances, and it would probably be similar at Hogwarts, as well. I can see myself getting along fine with Hermione, Percy until he turned into the rat bastard he is, even Harry and Ron. Depending on when I attended Hogwarts, I can see myself fast friends with Remus and Bill, too.

11.) What would you most enjoy about your time at Hogwarts? Learning magic!!

12.) Describe each of the four houses as you see them:

Gryffindor: Gryffindors are passionate about the things they believe in; they are stubborn and often blindly devoted to their goals, but not because they are self-absorbed or full of themselves. They are passionate because they truly believe it is the right thing at that moment.

Hufflepuff: Hufflepuffs are fair and true, and believe firmly in doing everything they can do to contribute; if you've not done something when you are perfectly able, then you're not a Hufflepuff.

Ravenclaw: Ravenclaws want to know. They have an insatiable need to understand, and the means to do so more easily than others. They are smart and often quick, and always the first to ask why.

Slytherin: Slytherins are ambitious folk, people who have a vision and the drive to achieve it. Many will employ any available shortcut that presents itself, but they know what they want and will do what it takes to get there.

13.) Which house do you feel the least affinity for? Probably Slytherin, though I'm not fundamentally opposed to it. I just don't know that I would have the requisite drive to fit in there.

If I messed something up, please know I apologize profusely, and will fix it as soon as you tell me because I don't wanna be a squib!
