| WHO ARE YOU |

01.) What are your goals in life? To travel extensively and one day write a book. I'm still deciding on the book to write, but I'm pretty sure it will end up being a historical fiction or fantasy novel. They are just my thing.

02.) What do you care about most? Family, life, freedom - without those, nothing else is worth anything...not money, belongings, etc.

03.) What is one thing you would change about the world today? The lack of hope in the future and trust in the past - especially in the West. Western culture has been torn apart so badly by revisionist historians that people are throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Yes there are dark things in our history, but Western culture has brought some of the greatest ideas, minds, artworks, etc. to the world. With the tearing down of our past, people have lost hope in the future and they lose themselves in the present to avoid the bleakness they see before them.

04.) Is there anything in your life that you regret? I regret not sticking with some of the stuff (dance, skating, etc.) that I did as a kid. It got to the point I hated exercise, and now I'm swimming upstream to get in better health.

05.) Describe your top positive characteristics.

1. Empathic - I try and see where others are coming from, even when I disagree with them.
2. Intelligent - I love reading nonfiction books and watching documentaries. History, current affairs, & literature are my particular loves, but I will also dabble in science, philosophy, and politics. As I have been reading since I was two, I have an excellent vocabulary and enjoy using it.
3. Protective - If you are one of mine, I will support you through anything I can. I will do what I have to to keep you safe. I will protect you from yourself - by this, I mean I believe in tough love. If you commit a crime, I will turn you in...I think people have to learn personal responsibility to become independent people.
4. Manners - There are others, but since I feel the modern world doesn't have enough of these, I thought I would mention them. I fully acknowledge being old-fashioned. I think the young should give their seat to their elders. I think a guy should hold a door for a girl. I think "please" and "thank you" should be used regularly. Nicknames are for family and close friends, not for mere acquaintances...not without permission anyway. It is a funny thing about modern culture - we are terrified of saying/doing something that might hurt someone's feelings, but true manners have never been more neglected.

06.) Describe your top negative characteristics.

1. Stubborn - I have my opinions, and I don't change them to match public expectation or the "politically correct" stance.
2. Opinionated - This ties in with the above, but I almost always have an opinion on everything.
3. Sarcastic - My main defense tactic is sarcasm. If you come at me, with an obvious ill-intent, I tend to use words to undercut you.
4. Introvert - Just like you can have a shy extrovert, I can be a forceful introvert. I'm not shy (which people seem to think is a requirement of introverts), I just prefer a quiet place, and my own company or that of small groups.

07.) Pick a favorite quote and explain what it means to you. "All that's necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke -- For me, this quote points out what is wrong with the idea of "I'm only one person. What can I do?" Just because you are one person, or think you are alone, this is no reason not to TRY and make things right. In my opinion, living in a free country requires me to make the attempt.

08.) Who is your favorite Harry Potter character? Either Sirius Black or Remus Lupin - they are the two adults who really tried to help Harry instead of letting him fumble around on his own. They brought a deeper dimension to the story when they came into the scene.

09.) Least favorite? Dolores Umbridge, the Dursleys - I dislike anybody who gets their kicks from abusing kids.

10.) Who would you have been friends with at Hogwarts? Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, Hermione Granger, Lily Evans, Remus Lupin - I always drifted towards the smart kids or the kids on the edge - the ones who needed looking after.

11.) What would you most enjoy about your time at Hogwarts? Classes - I always enjoyed the learning part of school even while I hated the rest of it.

12.) Describe each of the four houses as you see them:
Gryffindor: Gryffindors are set apart by their sheer willingness to throw themselves into whatever they are doing. Gryffindors are the passion of Hogwarts. Once they decide on an opinion, they are stubborn to the point of craziness and will not change their minds. This makes them very brave, sometimes foolhardy, but generally fun to be around. It would be hard to have a boring time with this House.

Hufflepuff: Hufflepuffs are the worker bees of Hogwarts. They are the persistence of the school. They tend to look like they are plodding along, being outshone by all the other houses, but, as with the tortoise and the hare, slow and steady can win the race. They may not get there first or best, but Hufflepuffs are not likely to be swayed from their purpose either.

Ravenclaw: Ravenclaws are the intellect of Hogwarts. They are the ones who love to learn simply for the sake of knowing. They bring logic to the table, and an ability to ferret out resources from the library. This might lead to a tendency to over-think a problem. However, on the other hand, it also means they are unlikely to overlook a solution.

Slytherin: Slytherins are the cunning of Hogwarts. They bring the ability to see around corners and to think in shadows. They tend to weigh the pros and cons of their actions, and try to find the least dangerous path to get where they want to go. This is not a cowardly thing, it is simply a good application of common sense.

I think a person who manages to bring all four Houses together would make a fabulous human being.

13.) Which house do you feel the least affinity for? Hufflepuff - I'm just not really that hard of a worker, or that good about focusing on a task and getting it completed.
